Sustainability (ESG)

The Vitas Vending Sustainability Policy

What do we mean by sustainability?

Coffee grown in a manner which is kind to the environment and supports the local farming communities.

Sustainability is high on the agenda of companies and has become an intrinsic part of how we, Vitas Vending,  manage our future business.

To this end we subscribe to utz…. who are Utz Certified?

Utz Certified “Good Inside” are a non-profit organisation whose mission is “to implement a worldwide standard for socially and environmentally responsible coffee production and sourcing”

Utz Certified answers two key questions…

  • Where does my coffee come from?
  • How was my coffee produced?

The utz approach

Provides worldwide business standards (code of conduct) for socially and environmentally responsible coffee production & sourcing for all producers.

Empowers farmers to negotiate and command a better price for higher quality coffee. Long term, negating the need for a guaranteed premium.
Utz can always certify 5 times global demand, to ensure continuity of supply.
Compulsory compliance with high standards set by Code of Conduct on social, environmental, economic practices. Stringent adherence for certification. Annual inspection by independent auditors.
Yes, traceability is available throughout the entire coffee supply chain. Customers and consumers can use an online capability to trace the coffee back to the farms it originated from.

Rainforest alliance mission

The rainforest alliance’s ambitious mission is to conserve bio diversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods by transforming land-use practices, business practices, and consumer behaviour.
The Rainforest Alliance is a growing network of people who are inspired and committed to working together to achieve our mission of conserving biodiversity and ensuring sustainable livelihoods. Through creative, pragmatic collaboration, they aim to rebalance the planet by building strong forests and healthy communities around the world.
Since 1987, the Rainforest Alliance has worked to build a global alliance of people who share our vision of strong forests and thriving communities. Today, they work with rural communities in 74 countries around the world to conserve forests, support sustainable livelihoods, and restore balance to the planet we call home.
Agriculture, forestry, and tourism are three industries that have huge impacts on forests and land worldwide. So the Rainforest Alliance works with farmers, foresters, and tourism entrepreneurs, providing them with training and guidelines so they can minimize their environmental impacts, while earning stable incomes. Their sustainable practices may earn them certification through the Sustainable Agriculture Network standard, the Forest Stewardship Council standard-both of which were co-founded by the Rainforest Alliance-or the Rainforest Alliance’s UN-accredited tourism standard.

As consumers, we all have tremendous power to advance sustainable land-use and business practices. We can choose which organizations to support with our donations. We can choose to purchase only those goods and services whose production did not harm forests, biodiversity, or communities. We can learn why the choices we make matter so much and then share what we learn.

Caring consumers can look for the little green frog, a trusted symbol of sustainability, and know that the projects they choose to support and the goods they choose to purchase are helping to rebalance the Earth.

At Vitas Vending we fully support the Rainforest Alliance and the good work they do, our Cafe Vitas beans subscribe to the Rainforest Alliance accreditation.
